An UI/UX Designer searching for a new amazing Role

Hi, I’m Alex

I'm a Graphic Designer turned UX Designer based in New York. My passion is in creating human-centered designs that can improve our daily lives while creating a cross-cultural impact.

My past experience lends me the ability to communicate effectively across multiple divisions, think critically and collaborate efficiently in an agile working environment. That's why I would love to work with the next product team to design solutions that we are all proud of.

So how did I get here?

I made a mistake

When I was beginning high school, I took a contract job for a family friend whos business was selling fire equipment. They wanted their website refreshed and then maintained. Having zero experience with coding, I jumped in using Microsoft Frontpage, only to effectively delete the entire website using the WYSIWYG editor and not understanding what FTP was. I spent a full weekend teaching myself how to code HTML out of sheer panic.

Print was the move

As I got closer to the end of high school, I got more exposure to website building and had the opportunity to take a graphic design course. Understand that web coding wasn't a readily available degree in college, so I doubled down on graphics with the intent to make it big in the print world.

Transitioning

Print was NOT the move. While working as a graphic designer in a print shop, I started to see a shift to more web-based marketing which led me to work as a web designer with a focus on email marketing and conducting seminars to educate clients on best practices. When the company I was with created a new position for an in-house UI Designer, I jumped at the opportunity to help establish our UI & UX Standards. Soon after, we were acquired by another company and I made a transition to a full UX Designer in order to build out the merged company's design system.

“I managed Alex during my tenure at Higher Logic. I could always rely on him to complete his assignments and keep commitments. Alex made sure that assignments were delivered on time and at high quality. He was a thoughtful designer that followed best practices. He was a key player in establishing our design system and maintaining its framework. Alex is an avid and quick learner.”

What I do when I'm not working

Problem-solving

I am both a husband and a father. Families are complex, shifting entities where every day brings new challenges to overcome and figure out. If you think that user experience stays in the digital world, I would like to direct your attention to the assembly of toys for small children.

Woodworking

I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment that comes when I get the chance to build something out of wood. The tangible end-product is wonderful and sitting down for a family meal at the dining table I made or seeing the smile on my child's face while they play on the swing set I built for them....there is nothing quite like it.

Nerding out

Whether I am in the middle of building a custom keyboard for my computer, reading the next great science-fiction or fantasy novel, flying a drone or playing a video game, I am sure to be having fun.

Getting outside

Hiking, snowboarding, gardening, paddle-boarding. These are just a few of the numerous activities I love to be enjoying outdoors.

“Alex is one of the most talented designers, and wonderful people, I have had the pleasure of working with. During our time together at Informz and Higher Logic, Alex consistently produced work of the highest quality and displayed the ability to understand not just what design worked best for the product, but for the end user as well. Collaborating on projects with him was always great because I knew he would be able to see things in our specs that could be improved in ways that we never thought of. Alex is a consummate team player and an asset to any organization. I cannot recommend him highly enough.”
